“In order to ensure that the measured thrusts from satellite microthrusters are accurate, the thrust balances on which the microthrusters are mounted must themselves be calibrated. Two such micro-Newton thrust balances, namely at California State U. Fullerton and Technical University Dresden, presented NASA’s Innovative and Advanced Concepts (NIAC) with measured thrust results from a novel microthruster design. NIAC tasked HRI to calibrate the calibrators used in these balances using highly precise analytical balances and novel mechanical suspension means.”
